SUMMER SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING

From 6 May 2024 until 8 September 2024 in Breuil-Cervinia, where on the 3,500 meters of the Plateau Rosà glacier great descents await you even in the months of July and August.

This is the largest summer ski facility in Europe: approximately 25 km of slopes capable of satisfying all technical needs, from beginners to athletes on slopes which in terms of extension, quality of snow and technical variety have nothing to envy of a ski resort winter. You can ski in the large and sunny valley of Plateau Rosà, also taking advantage of the Piccolo Cervino cable car (3,883) in Swiss territory. Lots of snow, long routes, ad hoc slopes for every level and specialty of alpine skiing but also snowboarding with that Gravity Park in the history of riders.

It is easy and convenient to reach Plateau Rosà with the modern and panoramic cable car which takes you to your destination in just one leap from Cime Bianche lakes, in just half an hour from Cervinia town.

It is also possible to reach the arrival of the Piccolo Cervino cable car where the ice cave is located on skis or by crossing the glacier on foot with adequate equipment and preferably with an alpine guide. The cave, one of the wonders of the Alps , is open every day with a 50 m gallery. at 15 m. of depth.

Tips: the Cervinia ski lifts are approximately 28 km from Liberty House. They can be reached by car in about 35 minutes or by bus which passes every morning from "Chatillon Autostazione" located 200 meters from Liberty House. Below is the link to the site with the daily timetables

HIKING

The routes that the Aosta Valley has to offer are endless, including those of the Via Francigena which we covered in the previous blog article. Today we want to point out two excursions to do in the immediate vicinity of Liberty House, starting from Châtillon or Saint-Vincent.

CHÂTILLON – CASTELLO DI USSEL

• A very nice and undemanding route is the one that goes from Châtillon to the Castle of Ussel, visible from the apartments and which is 2.9 km from our building which can be covered in about an hour on foot passing through the road of the Châtillon station, crossing a small bridge over the Dora Baltea and then go up the bends of the road with little traffic in the middle of the woods. Once you reach your destination you can visit Ussel Castle, located on a clear and steep promontory that looms over the town of Châtillon and constitutes the first example of a monobloc castle in the Aosta Valley, the last evolutionary phase of the medieval castle. Once you reach your destination there is a small play and refreshment area, or to try, the typically regional restaurant Chez Nous (booking in advance +39 0166 62276).

SAINT VINCENT - COLLE DE JOUX

• More challenging, but worth it, is the excursion from nearby Saint-Vincent to Colle de Joux, a wooded pass between the center of the valley and the Gressoney valley immersed in a splendid natural landscape

• Description Starting from the nearby car park of the Saint-Vincent Baths it is possible to take the pedestrian path of the Ancient Baths which leads to the picturesque church of Moron. From there you continue along hairpin bends and paths which, passing through small churches, villages and cow pastures, reach Palla from which you access the equipped area of ​​Colle de Joux, with a large refreshment area and games for children and a highly recommended Etoille restaurant de Neige (+ 39 0166 537701), typically Aosta Valley in its menu and furnishings which also offers customers deckchairs and sun loungers to rest and sunbathe with a splendid view of the mountains
• Tips: we recommend purchasing a map of the trail at the Tourist Info point located in via Roma 62 in Saint Vincent. Obviously you can choose to park further along the route or reach your destination directly by car or bicycle.

SPA AND WELLNESS

CLIMBING

From April to October in the municipality of Arnad, just 15 minutes by car from Liberty House it is possible to reach the La Gruviera and Paretone climbing gyms.

The crag is historic, probably the first bolted in the Aosta Valley, and is still one of the favorite destinations both for the short access from outside the valley and for the quality of the compact and at the same time well-worked rock. The routes, despite the considerable passage of climbers, maintain an ideal roughness for climbing.

In fact, climbing is mostly technical and there are many ideal itineraries for taking your first steps or getting used to the grip of your shoes on the rock.

The activity requires technical experience, it is advisable to be accompanied by a mountain guide.
